About this deal

You can get a genuinely good dice role (full of needed beer or with just enough bulls eyes to kill an opponent) or a truly horrible roll (full of dynamites or arrows). The bullet tokens represent your hp (hit points/health) and each roll gives you chances to damage others or other effects like Native American Indians invading, dealing damage to all players or yourself and regaining health. The Dice Game comes with five dice, a deck of a few different types of cards, and cardboard arrow and bullet tokens. This is a game you can bring somewhere and teach everyone with low effort, and it’s not a stressful enough game that they’ll hate you during or after it ( Avalon). This is easiest in a four player game where the sheriff is sitting across the table from you ("whoops, I didn't mean to roll a "2" hit - sorry.

This means killing Outlaws if there are more Team Outlaw than Team Sheriff, and likely killing the Deputies if Team Outlaw has fewer members. Bang is certainly limited in strategy Morso than the card game but there is still opportunity to use it. Every time he rolls an arrow, he immediately takes an arrow token, and any dynamites that he rolls he must keep.If a player collects a trio of Gatling symbols on the dice, he fires one shot at everyone else and rids himself of Indian tokens. A player’s turn involves rolling the five dice up to three times and then resolving the symbols rolled. Players on either side of you are considered distance 1 away from you (as in they’re one person away), and players on either side of them (not counting you) are considered distance 2 away from you. As sheriff you still have to bring the outlaws to heel, as outlaws you still have to stop the law and as renegades you still want to be the last alive, only now the Indians want you all dead too!

At best you can try to read the truth into what they keep and what they reroll, but good luck doing that in the time-frame of a gunfight. That way you’d still be stuck at the mercy of the dice but you could bend their outcomes in more interesting ways. Depending on your role, you will have a different victory condition - kill the Sheriff, kill the Outlaws and Renegade, or be the last man standing; and depending on your character, you will have a different special ability to help you accomplish your goal. The hidden role has to mean something and revealing your secret should have consequences on the game. Here are some of our more lighthearted things to show we're not all about the Serious Business of games.Limiting the number of actions available makes the symbology of the game short and memorable and really accessible to new players of all ages. The game proceeds at a breathtaking pace, so there is little time to be coy or try to discern the identity of one’s opponents.

What the expansion adds is 4 modules that change the game in different ways (it says 5 but really it's 4 as the 5th is just a few new characters). There is of course, the dreaded player elimination, but in a game that takes no more than 15 minutes to play this is not a serious issue and more an opportunity for a quick toilet break while the others finish shooting each other. I know it looks fun and all but I just feel like the social deception aspect of the game is really half baked and people will know each other's roles really quickly. It's cuts out most of the downtime of the original (centered around fussing with cards and deciding what to play) and instead gets down to the simple actions of deducing roles and shooting enemies. As such these are often emotional arguments rather than being marked by their level of analytical sophistication. This prevents weird interactions from occurring, apparently, but it’s also just good to be consistent. I’ve found Bang to be surprisingly difficult for some people to get their heads around when it comes to the win conditions, because really they follow a kind of flow-chart rather than anything more intuitive.
