About this deal

Best of all, the classic Vangelis score sounds nothing short of incredible, ebbing and flowing, swelling and receding, and shifting between your Atmos speakers like liquid atmospheric gold. But lest purists fear that Warner has overdone it, I was thrilled to see that there is still some legitimate grain to the image, which retains a film-like and natural look entirely appropriate to the vintage of the film.

Details are exquisite, from fine facial features to the intricate cityscape model work, everything is on display for you to pick over and parcel through. Then you meet Leon and his work clothes now have a notable crinkly plastic-like look like a cheap uniform on an old toy making him look even more artificial. However, because the 1992 cut was lopped together quickly, the editing was a bit clunky and some visual effects inconsistencies from the original remained. Even in its zillion different forms that suffered a zillion different alterations (The added/subtracted narration! In terms of the inconsistency in the image’s ‘finish’, for instance, Scott filmed the biggest special effects shots - which look sensational and largely grain free - using 65mm, while the rest was shot in a smaller format, resulting in a rougher finish from the 4K scan.Deleted and Alternate Scenes (SD, 48 minutes) - This may be the holy grail of the extras for 'Blade Runner' devotees. Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. Warner provides three versions of the film on disc three -- the 1982 domestic and International cuts, and the 1992 Director's Cut. but the part was eventually cut before shooting began), and both actress appear to recount their experiences. I was hit once more with the ‘sliced bread’ metaphor, and it was only through viewing subsequent purchases that the realisation dawned that those first two DVDs were actually pretty naff.

As you get closer and closer to the practical models, you can see all of the little nooks and crannies with an appreciable amount of detail and depth. Rest assured, however, that despite any complaints from fans about early cuts of Blade Runner, the film in its original form is still powerful and nothing short of exceptional. The 4K edition of Blade Runner features a new Dolby Atmos audio mix that’s at least as amazing an achievement as the revamped visuals. The film has always been well ahead of its time in sound design, but the Blu-ray production team has really gone above and beyond. There are also a couple of new shots taken from archival material to give more atmosphere to the future world, but these are quick inserts -- again, there are no new scenes in 'The Final Cut' that any 'Blade Runner' fan hasn't already seen in one of the previous versions. Over the years I would discover the original theatrical cut - which isn't bad, just not my preferred version because I never felt the narration to be organic or necessary to the film. Finally, if by some miraculous phenomenon you are actually reading this review but still haven't seen 'Blade Runner,' don't let all this talk of multiple versions scare you off. I'd never seen him as a jaded detective/assassin assigned to hunt and kill these very human-looking robots.

Another thing is that the last time, I watched the five DVD tin, with five versions of the film, and two discs full of extras. Other titles include Sony's disappointing raunchy comedy Rough Night, a 4K edition of the great horror-deconstruction . A troubled production that saw Ridley Scott fired and the film edited against his wishes, it flopped on release in 1982. I love it even more on Blu-ray, although it has to be said that you won’t see the magic transformation in HD that you see in more modern features. Back in 1982, the film screened horribly with test audiences, so a few producer- and studio-mandated changes were made to Scott's original cut.Divided into three sections ("Inception," "Fabrication" and "Longevity"), fans will find plenty to revel in here. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the score, which has a much warmer tone while still retaining the cool allure of its '80s electronic elements.

In a future of high-tech possibility soured by urban and social decay, a 21st-century detective is on the trail of four fugitive replicants—cloned humans that are now illegal—and is drawn to a mystery woman whose secrets may undermine his soul.

And since I didn't have it in my sci-fi and fantasy collection, I do it now (along with space odyssey 2001). Throughout the years, the film has also generated a fair bit on controversy with its ambiguous storytelling, rumored cut scenes, graphic violence and multiple versions and home video releases.
