Charlie Cook's Favourite Book: 1
About this deal
This isn’t an interactive show, but we always welcome vocal responses from young audiences, and you can join in by clapping along to the songs. Yoto Says: A dizzying adventure that immerses us in a book inside a book inside a book… all for the love of stories! The show features a dragon puppet who roars loudly and quite a big crocodile puppet, but these are both friendly characters. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations.
A show aimed at two-year olds would have some differences – those shows are carefully made to hold their attention for the duration, and not to be unsettling for them. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I wanted all the books to look very different - in different styles - but in the end there wasn't enough time to work that out (may be I would have failed anyway). There will be up to 70 people watching the show (sometimes more if you come when there are school groups). She was the UK Children’s Laureate 2011–13 and has been honoured with a CBE for Services to Literature.
Her other books include The Hospital Dog illustrated by Sara Ogilvie, The Christmas Pine illustrated by Victoria Sandøy and the hugely successful What the Ladybird Heard adventures illustrated by Lydia Monks. Julia Donaldson has written some of the world's best-loved children's books, including modern classics The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child, illustrated by Axel Scheffler, which together have sold over 25 million copies worldwide and have been translated into over one hundred languages.
But the publisher thought that would be too complicated, and Axel has done a great job making each book look different. He has enjoyed particular success in his collaborations with Julia Donaldson, for which their many awards include the Smarties Gold Prize, the WH Smith Children's Book of the Year, the Blue Peter Best Book to Read Aloud and Children's Audio Book of the Year. Based on the original book Charlie Cook Favourite Book – written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. They have brought many of my books to life on stage, and they do so creatively whilst remaining faithful to the books.
