Elephant London Dry Gin, 45% ABV, 50cl | Great for Cocktails and Perfect for Gin & Tonic Sundowners
About this deal
Distilled near Hamburg, using a combination of German botanicals and botanicals sourced from Africa. The term 'schnapps' comes from the Low German language and is a nod to the fact the drink should be consumed quickly. The gin’s distinct nose first yields a subtle juniper aroma, with an undertone of mountain pine and other herbaceous notes.
Macerated in the gin for several months, these wild berries add a richly rounded, lightly sweet and exquisitely fruity bouquet as well as a typical warm red colour to the spirit. Elephant London Dry Gin is a handcrafted premium gin made from a blend of 14 botanicals combining rare African ingredients with fresh apples. The Strength encompasses twice the quantity of botanicals and a focus on the extraordinary African buchu, sweet orange peel and herbaceous mountain pine. To create a lightly sweet, delicate and floral gin and tonic, why not use a slice of apple as a garnish? But Elephant Gin makes the total at least one,15% of the profits from this spirit go to helping the preservation of wild African Elephant populations. Even the quite coherent design of the bottle reflects the love of Africa, the desire for adventure and new discoveries. The taste is complex but strikingly smooth encompassing floral, fruity and spicy flavours which can be enjoyed both straight and in a cocktail.
The label has a resemblance to a stamped postage stamp, from the double-sided printed label on the back shines through a map to the front. With a vision to conserve the wildlife they feel so passionately for, they decided to launch a product that would help conservation trusts. This gin has a higher ABV of 57% and uses twice as many botanicals as the original Elephant London Dry Gin. But it is not only the product in the loving packaging that makes the brand Elephant Gin simply likeable: With 15% of the proceeds Elephant Gin supports the Big Life Foundation as well as Space for Elephants and thus also does good for the protection of species of pachyderms in Africa. This herb has a more camphorous flavour, notes of birch twigs, mint and a final palate of pine and black currant. They're joined by mountain pine, apple, orange peel, ginger, and a few more hushed-up botanicals that make Elephant Gin such a treat. The Elephant Strength bottle takes inspiration from its naval origins with navy blue accents and an inviting map of the ocean, conjuring far-flung exploration and the spirit of adventure at the heart of the brand. The gin is powerful (think elephant-powerful), intense and full-bodied, with a fresh aroma and a higher viscosity than the original; superb in cocktails, it’s equally perfect for recreating the African bush Sundowner experience and for bold adventures across urban plains. Compared to other sloe gins, Elephant Sloe Gin has a lower sugar content paired with higher alcohol volume of 35%.
