About this deal

A razor-sharp, laugh-out-loud novel that re-imagines the cast of Nancy Mitford’s The Pursuit of Love. But this is only the beginning of Linda's pursuit of love, a journey that will be wilder, more surprising and more complicated than she could ever have imagined. As we never tired of complaining,” says Franny, who narrates the novel, “we were ridiculously old-fashioned.

but I never actually believed it; the smug privilege and pointlessness of just about everyone in the book left me struggling to understand why I was supposed to care for or about any of them - it's all very well to employ character stereotypes for a fun shorthand so the audience knows what to expect, but to never step beyond the stereotypes is the mark of a lazy author.

Husband number one, Tony Kroesig, has been perfectly refashioned as the son of a prominent right-winger. I actually snorted with laughter in several bits of it - particularly when Uncle Matthew and Davey get obsessed with Instagram. Delight the bookworm in your life with the gift of this hilarious and heartbreaking modern-day adaptation of Nancy Mitford's classic, The Pursuit of Happiness.

The lives of Rafiq’s three children becoming increasingly dependent on their relationship to money:Siver, the only daughter, escapes into an unhappy marriage in Baghdad before fleeing to raise her daughter as a single mother in Dubai. OK – so I need to hold my hands up first and say I’ve never read ‘The Pursuit of Love’ by Nancy Mitford – so whilst this is a retelling – it was a brand new story / set of characters for me – but as a fan of India Knight’s writing I requested an ARC from NetGalley. She uses the device of no phone signal, and a ban on electronics (“analogue children in a digital age”) to allow the Radletts to be as old-fashioned and wild as Mitford’s original clan. Thirteen days before they are due to be married, Kit reveals an awful truth, cracking the facade Piglet has created. This blog hosts a selection of articles written from 2013 to the present, mostly focusing on my book reviews, which are uploaded frequently. Well-written and replete with deadpan humour, sarcasm and irony it’s a banter-filled, yet poignant tale. Like the modernised versions of Jane Austen’s canon before it, Darling has to stretch itself a bit to fit anything resembling contemporary reality, and in failing to do so in any meaningful way ends up becoming somewhat dream-like and fantastical in places. Of course, she is beautiful, with an innate sense of style; every girl wants to be her, every guy wants to be with her.

What it lacks in original storytelling, Darling more than makes up for in atmosphere and fresh jokes. She wears her heart on her sleeve and doesn’t apologise for it, and is funny and astute in her observations.Big love too for Nina Stibbe - the Lizzie Vogle trilogy are inspired works of comic fiction, full of well drawn observations of people's little quirks and foibles. The original novel centres on the life and loves of the beautiful Linda Radlett and her unconventional upbringing with her siblings and cousin Fanny (the book’s narrator) in the Cotswolds manor of Alconleigh. His violently arbitrary, Nicky Haslam-style hatreds pepper the pages: enoki mushrooms, thin socks or open-mouthed Instagrammers. There were a lot of sidetracked and half-completed conversations - I could picture them all talking while eating, cleaning the house, watching TV and doing a million other things at the same time.
