The Kraken is a dark spiced rum based on rums distilled from molasses at Angostura Distillery, Trinidad and aged between one and two years. A spiced rum is a classic choice for both summer days and to warm up on winter nights, as this spirit lends itself to so many different cocktails. It is said that a ship carrying one of the largest quantities of black spiced rum ever to be brought over from the Caribbean islands, for unexplained reasons, never reached its destination. Said to be the result of the Kraken’s ink, the colour is made using a unique molasses mixture, and will be easily recognisable as soon as your gift is unwrapped. This dark looking rum has a fantastic label and bottle design which would look at home on the set of any Pirates of the Caribbean film. This signature beverage can also be completed with placing your Kraken in a beautiful glass, which you can find in our glassware and gifts section. I drank most of the commercially available rums in years past but went off them as I lost the taste for the harshness of them. Kraken Rum is distilled in pot stills on the Virgin Islands and fermented from naturally sweet molasses made from sugar cane grown on nearby riverbanks.
