About this deal

One thing that I really love about Mary Berry is the fact that she ensures that her book will be useful to people around the English speaking world by including both the English (Imperial) and Metric.

This definitive collection from the undisputed queen of cakes brings together all of Mary Berry’s most mouth-watering baking recipes in one volume. I received an ARC of from NetGalley and Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press in exchange for an honest review. While I was there I discovered the very first Great British Bake Off, known on this side of the pond as the Great British Baking Show. Everything I have tried from this book has tasted lovely, been easy to make and had good clear instructions. The first thing I noticed when I first got the book last Christmas was the range of recipes that is included; including traditional cakes, biscuits and cookies and cheesecakes.

I am now blaming this book for an increase in weight but the pleasure of being able to present edible and attractive bakes for friends and family's acclaim is worth it. Somehow I think that whoever did the translation thought that perhaps we don't have those here and so they substituted maraschino cherries - absolutely NOT the same thing - as I've found that same substitution in another recipe or two that should contain candied cherries. This really is a baking bible and a staple on the cookbook shelf for any fans of baking or Mary Berry! Great guide to so many of the "technical challenges" that Mary Berry has her contestants do on the Great British Baking Show. So, I don't know, I don't think it's fair to judge the entire book on this one recipe because there are so many variables that can cause a bake to go astray that aren't at all the fault of the recipe. It is in very poor condition, the spine is damaged and the glue has come unattached the full length of the book, the pages all appear to be intact. I'm not sure I should have done that because I learned that there isn't a great deal of consensus out there on how to create a successful Pavlova. With 250 foolproof recipes, Mary Berry's Baking Bible has all the favourites, from Frosted Walnut Cake and Hot Chocolate Soufflés to The Very Best Shortbread , plus exciting new recipes - treat your friends and family to indulgent Brownie Loaves with White Choc Chip , moreish Paprika and Cheese Biscuits , a fabulous Rainbow Unicorn Cake , and much more.

The use of extra large eggs and salted butter (or buttery spread) in most recipes was unusual (to me). Perennials PERENNIALS constant friends A selection of novels, memoirs and more by some of our favourite authors. After thrilling home bakers with delectable, no-fuss, trustworthy recipes for decades, the queen of British baking—Dame Mary Berry—makes your life even more delicious with 250 new and classic recipes for all occasions in this fully revised and updated edition of her Baking Bible. This definitive collection from the undisputed queen of cakes brings together all of Mary Berry’s most mouth-watering baking recipes in a beautifully packaged edition. Made with semolina and ground almonds instead of flour, this recipe results in a light cake that can be filled with plenty of whipped cream, lemon curd, and seasonal fruits for a sophisticated dessert.Berry is famous for her sweet tooth and her extensive baking knowledge which she shares with you in this beautifully packaged edition will not disappoint. This particular cake appears under several different names in virtually every book that Mary publishes. Dip Into NEW PAPERBACKS [jsb_filter_by_tags count="15" show_more="10" sort_by="total_products"/] A selection of recent paperbacks. Dame Mary Berry is the nation's favourite baker and author of over 70 books, including the bestselling Mary Berry Cooks , Mary Berry's Absolute Favourites , Mary Berry At Home and Mary Berry's Baking Bible .

So many different recipes in this book I honestly think it’s the only book I will ever need for baking. There's recipes for beginners and more advanced bakers, recipes that can engage kids and challenge adults. In this completely modernised reissue, you will find 250 recipes (including 20 new additions) all newly tested and photographed. This is a beautifully produced book; heavy, thick, well made, with gorgeous photos and organized instructions.

None of the recipes contains hard to source ingredients – many of which you’ll already have in your cupboards so that you’ll always be able to bake something from the book! As with the original, this revised and updated version would a good book for aspiring bakers to use to develop their baking chops (just don't start with the Special Cakes chapter as those recipes are more complex). Filled with 250 foolproof recipes, from the classic Victoria Sponge, Very Best Chocolate Cake and Hazelnut Meringue Cake to tempting muffins, scones and bread and butter pudding, this is the most comprehensive baking cookbook you'll ever need. If you're a fan of traditional fruit cakes, this is definitely a book for your library, who knew just how many fruit cake variations there are. The four stars instead of five is mainly the ulitization I got from this book- not disregarding the quality of it.
