About this deal

We haven’t nailed down any details, but probably, yes. As I said, the book is meant to be a ‘thank you’ to fans and a celebration of the TV series, so we are timing Chalice to come out shortly before the series airs. (But again, exactly when the series airs has not been determined yet. Stay tuned for that.) When I know more details, I will post them here on my blog! First quest: the cupbearer of the gods, Ganymede, is missing his chalice. Not only is this embarrassing. It’s also a potential disaster, since any mortal who happens to drink from the cup will gain immortality. Percy, Annabeth and Grover have to find that chalice and return it to Ganymede before anyone realizes he lost it. These gods . . . they really need GPS tags on their magic items, don’t they? The mission? Help Ganymede, Zeus’s cup-bearer, retrieve his lost goblet before it falls into the wrong hands. You see, one sip from it can turn a mortal into a god, and Zeus would not be pleased with that result. Can Percy, Grover, and Annabeth find the precious cup in time? And if they do, will they be able to resist its special power? Whatever else you take from this post, we should be able to agree that bullying and harassing a child online is inexcusably wrong. As strong as Leah is, as much as we have discussed the potential for this kind of reaction and the intense pressure this role will bring, the negative comments she has received online are out of line. They need to stop. Now."

Other series, like the Kane Chronicles, Trials of Apollo, and Magnus Chase, don’t feature Percy at all. These books, however, are set in the same world. This means that names and places will be familiar. I really love the fact that these are low stakes. I think the readers (at least the ones like me who’ve been on this journey for a decade) have followed so many books and series with pretty high stakes that now we really want our favorite characters to just… chill. Of course, they’re demigods, and as Percy warned us early on, being a half-blood is dangerous. They ain’t getting rest. THE CONTINUITY CURSE The Percabeth moments were lovely - such a delight to read! You can see how their relationship has become so very solid - so in tune and entwined with each other - with dry wit that comes from Percy knowing in his heart that he and Annabeth are in for the long run - that for a girl who had seen his baby pictures, 'I had no dignity left. Annabeth and I were still together. I figured that was good enough. 💜💜 But, that one moment which caught me completely off guard when it happened! One second, it was all hearts and love and the next, Percy was barreling towards peril - hahaha, whiplash at it's finest! And the best part, was that it was so well-executed that the surprise was totally worth the pay-off! 😅 Zeus' cup-bearer Ganymede responds to the ad, needing help because his chalice of immortality has been stolen and Ganymede needs to recover it before the other gods find out. Percy and his friends investigate Hebe and Iris as potential suspects, and are forced to work around Percy's school schedule. Although both are cleared of any wrongdoing, in exchange for the three cleansing her magical staff, Iris uncovers the true culprit as Geras, the god of old age, and helps Percy, Annabeth and Grover to locate him. Percy challenges Geras to a wrestling match to the death, but ultimately wins by embracing Geras and in effect, old age and everything that comes with mortality, winning Geras' respect and the return of the chalice. For example, if you go in a VIP server and wait 4 hours without someone collecting all Chests, One random 4 hour old chest will have the God's Chalice.

More news soon, and thanks as always to my terrific readers. It has been a thrill to write in Percy’s voice again, and a great honor to know that these books have been part of your lives! And I loved all the little nods to the past events - very simple, very distinctive, but very much of import to Percy's current journey. I appreciated that the Greek gods included this time around were of limited capacity, but even the trip to Zeus was fabulously done! Each of their adventures were written with great zeal and I really did have a smile on my face as they made their way through the tough waters to get to the ultimate prize. 🏆🏆 And while it is targeted for younger audiences, there is something very nostalgic to this installment. You'll see it with each self-reflection that Percy is enlightened with - that moment that deeply resonates with what is his purpose in life - other than the debt he owes for existing - for being a child of one of the Big Three.' 😔 That’s because the flow may feel disrupted with the short stories that are scattered throughout the timeline. As well, since Riordan was writing multiple series over the span of many years, there is overlap throughout the universe with events taking place at the same time. Some of the short stories are also hard to place within the timeline, because trying to line up seasons, ages, and events within the overall timeline with the main books can be challenging. Finalmente avevo trovato una saga da attendere e divorare, ogni anno aspettavo con ansia l'uscita dei nuovi capitoli della saga.

Apollo compliments Percy's victories against Kronos and Gaea before going on a tangent and comparing Percy's physique to his own. At the end of the letter, Apollo mentions that Zeus wants to speak with him about something of "critical importance," presumably Apollo's trials. Nope. Middle grade sensibility is where I live, friends. Yes, Percy is older, and so his situation is not the same as when he was twelve. He sounds a bit older in this book. He is thinking about his life in college and beyond. But the tone is still the same, and the content is no more risqué than in the original series. I want the books to continue being suitable for middle grade readers, though readers of all ages are welcome! Trolls upset by the casting rallied to have the 12-year-old's TikTok account banned, prompting Riordan to defend her casting. "If you have a problem with this casting, take it up with me," he said. "You have no one else to blame. The novel is set between The Heroes of Olympus and The Trials of Apollo, during Percy’s senior year. It's revealed that the humidifier and lamp setup that Nico and Will used in The Sun and the Star: A Nico di Angelo Adventure to communicate with Percy and Annabeth via Iris Message was created by Percy to talk with Annabeth before bed every night. Annabeth had a similar setup in her own room.

He has assured fans that a repeat of the 2010 and 2013 movies will not be the case for the new Disney+ show which will premiere in December 2023. Riordan says that the show will finally deliver a faithful adaptation and that it is the depiction of Percy on screen that everyone has been waiting for. This is a reference to The Return of the King when Frodo gets to Mount Doom with the One Ring, which makes him invisible like Annabeth's Yankees Cap does to Percy, and claims the Ring as his rather than destroying it.

Are you kidding?” He grinned at Annabeth. “A chance to do quests, just the three of us? Like old times? The Three Musketeers!” I loved how our Wise Girl stayed true to her character. And Grover balancing the trio's chaos in his own innocent yet chaotic way. And I especially loved our Seaweed Brain, who was full of his usual sarcasm, foolishness, ready to battle and well being himself 🥹And can we talk about Annabeth trolling Percy into skipping while shooting rainbows? Because I was laughing so hard I cried.

He's a golden drachma if I've ever known one. I can't wait to see where his next search for a college letter will take him. Short answer: To celebrate the upcoming Percy TV show! Disney Publishing asked me what kind of tie-in books we could market for the show, and Chalice of the Gods was my idea as a ‘thank you’ to fans who have waited so long for a great adaptation. If you are one of the many readers who have asked me over the years for a new Percy/Annabeth/Grover adventure, this is for you! Percy doesn't need anyone else to point that out for him, he knew it when the Gods gifted him immortality and he said no. But this book was a nice reminder that no matter what he does in his life, no matter how many monsters he must fight, the goal will always be to keep going with Annabeth and Grover. How sweet is that? It is not recommended to get the God's Chalice from a public server as someone else might already have gotten it, and if you do, there's a high chance a bounty hunter might kill you, but if you end up with a Chalice, then wait in the Safe Zone until all Aura Colors are inserted.
